For thousands of years of its history the inhabitants of Jerusalem has changed many times, from the idol worshipers in biblical times, through the Ottoman Muslims to residents living in today. The Turks took Jerusalem in 1517, and made it part of their empire that stretched across North Africa, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. 20 these fascinating images allow you to watch the streets of Jerusalem before they were over 100 years, at the end of Ottoman rule in the city, shortly before it was conquered by the British, who ruled it until statehood in 1948.
